Ararat Rural City is strategically located on the Western Highway at an important junction of several major transport routes.
Well connected with the rest of the state and further afield, the city is strategically located within close proximity to Victoria’s deep sea ports at Portland and Geelong, as well as the national transport corridor linking Adelaide and Melbourne.
Ararat’s public airport is 5kms south of the city on the Western Highway. Home to the Grampians Soaring Club, it boasts a 660m grass runway and 1240m asphalt runway.
Passenger train services operate daily between Ararat and Melbourne, and there are weekly train services from Ararat to Adelaide. Ararat itself is well connected via a reliable public transport network.
V/line bus services complement the fast train services providing more options for travel to Melbourne or Ballarat daily.
A thrice-weekly connection from Ararat to Warrnambool accesses the Victorian coast and links to the Great Ocean Road and public transport option into Melbourne.
